8 Waves Waterpark

A not-so-secret resort hideaway is tucked in rural San Rafael, Bulacan. This resort is the 8 Waves Waterpark, whose centerpiece attraction is the 2,789 m² wave pool. It’s called 8 Waves because the wave pool can supposedly produce 8 different kinds of waves. Open since 2000, the resort has been host to many events and TV show episodes. The latest of these was the call center Sykes 2006 Summer Picnic, where a few thousand company employees enjoyed the water, and the sounds of Kamikazee.

Aside from the humongous wave pool, the resort also has a lap pool, a large kiddie pool, three bubble pools, a mini-golf course, lots of huts, and a function hall for those conferences and company team-building events.

The 8 Waves official website claims that their wave pool is one of the biggest in Asia and the biggest in the Philippines. While it’s obviously bigger than Fontana water park’s wave pool, I think the one at Splash Island at Southwoods Ecocentrum is bigger, judging from measurements taken using Google Earth. =)
