Back in 2006, I featured the Petron Express Center at NLEX in Marilao, Bulacan. So why not feature something similar along SLEX? Well, there’s plenty of “megastations” along SLEX, but I decided on the Petron-Caltex tandem at Kilometer 29 in San Pedro. The Petron megastation is located along the southbound side while the Caltex station is located right across on the northbound side.
I featured Paseo de Sta. Rosa about two months ago and I mentioned that it is a good stop-over place for those going to Tagaytay and Nasugbu/Calatagan when coming from SLEX. Well, as long as you’re going to any of the southern provinces via SLEX, the Petron station is a good first stop-over and pick-up point. I’ve been here several times and have eaten breakfast at the resident McDonald’s there (and it has a drive-thru for those on the go). Other people might want to go to Pancake House or Starbucks Coffee instead.
The Caltex megastation, on the other hand, is a good final stop-over joint before going home (especially for bathroom breaks). The restaurants in Caltex is practically a mirror-image of Petron’s: there’s also a McDonald’s (also with drive-thru), Starbucks and Pancake House. Well, there’s also Hen Lin, Cinnabon, and KFC for alternative choices.
Anyway, if you’re curious about the gas megastations along SLEX, the Southbound.ph website has an excellent article detailing all of the stations and their amenities and restaurants.
