The official name of our next featured sight is Rancho Sta. Monica. But locals all it Mitra’s Ranch because it belongs to the family of the late Senator Ramon Mitra, Jr., a prominent statesman who hailed from Puerto Princesa.
Rancho Sta. Monica sits on a hill just north of downtown Puerto Princesa about 65 meters above sea level and it has excellent views of the downtown and also of the islands and resorts in nearby Honda Bay to the northeast.
Through the generosity of the Mitra family, they have opened up their property to tourists for free so that they can enjoy the view. Visitors can roam freely all over the ranch but cannot go inside the villa (pictured above).
While most people visit for the excellent view (and jumpshots and selfies with Sulu Sea in the background), for a fee, visitors can also avail of pony rides, or be adventurous with one of the three ziplines installed nearby, or go jumping on a trampoline (for more exciting jumpshots).
